I was one of the lucky ones to get an invite to the VIP preview night of Turtle Bay’s new Peterborough restaurant but as I was away on my holibobs I sent some intrepid food (and drink!) testers in my place. Their words and photos are below.
What better setting than a warm summer’s evening to head into the city centre to experience the latest restaurant to set up shop in Peterborough. With music playing we were welcomed in by staff who explained the format of the night – basically, eat and drink! I have to admit already being a fan of Turtle Bay prior to seeing Peterborough’s restaurant so I’m familiar with the brand.
The bar area has a lovely informal vibe and fun decor you could imagine finding in Jamaica. I don’t know how authentic it is but it looks great and a back bar with a MASSIVE range of rums (40 to choose from apparently!) on the doorstep means a 9,000-mile-odd round trip saving, which can only be a good thing.
The dining area is suitably modern casual as this is a place to relax, socialise and enjoy good food, drinks and company.
After being shown to our table we pretty much spent the rest of the night working our way through the food menu. It’s hard to be subjective when you’re not paying for the meal but really, the food was SO good! To say we were full would be an understatement. Here’s a few of the highlights:
The restaurant will be open by the time you’re reading this (Sunday 25th June) so do head down and check it out for yourself. I know we’ll be heading back ourselves pretty soon! Please share your thoughts in the comments below 🙂
