Wow. At 1pm today an incredible boom was heard in Peterborough and within seconds my Twitter feed erupted with people asking what caused it. My initial thought was that it was an explosion but with jet planes overhead Twitter soon started confirming it was a sonic boom.
The hashtag #sonicboom even started trending, which is possibly a first for Peterborough!
Most likely a #sonicboom over central Peterborough 5 minutes ago, followed by a plane heading south… anyone lese felt anything?

Large explosion over Peterborough was aircraft breaking sound barrier (sonic boom) no concern – please don't call 999 as we are aware

Most disturbingly though is that people were even being forced to leave their houses and talk to people in the real world:
A caller to PT vows to complain to RAF Wittering about jet pilots breaking the sound barrier. #sonicboom "It's brought people on to streets"

Did the #sonicboom rock your world? Is this the most exciting thing to happen in Peterborough since that ugly dog? Tell me in the comments below.
