Previously known as Yeti’s, Kathmandu is in a prime location in the heart of Peterborough’s nightlife scene. I’d not eaten here before, so when a fellow curry fiend suggested meeting in town we thought Kathmandu would be worth a try.
From the outside it’s hard to get excited about Kathmandu as the restaurant is above the neighbouring shops and lacks a street-level window where you can spy other diners. Inside and up the stairs though, the dining area is well decorated with what looked like a few little areas on different levels – there’s even a table with cushions should you want to sit a bit closer to the floor! It was midweek so we were seated quickly and got down to the important part – the food!
Even though Kathmandu is primarily a Nepalese restaurant, anyone familiar with Indian cuisine will find plenty of great-sounding choices on the menu. Pretty much all your typical curries are catered for but with the addition of a Nepalese range. The food was well priced and tasted great, my personal favourite meal during the visit being the Gorkhali Chicken.
Peterborough is blessed with several good ‘Indian’ restaurants and I’m pleased to add Kathmandu to that list. If you’re looking for an alternative to your usual restaurant choice I would definitely recommend trying Kathmandu.
You can find Kathmandu at 12-14, Broadway, Peterborough, PE1 1RS.
