Latinis Peterborough Review
November 4th, 2008 Posted in curry monster, peterboroughGood points: Great food, good portions, great drinks, modern decor, friendly staff
Bad points: Average menu, cheap cola on tap
Monday night saw us nipping into Peterborough for a bite to eat after work and as we’d always planned to visit Latinis on New Road (opposite Chicago Rock) that’s where we headed.
Unfortunately, Peterborough on a Monday night is almost a ghost town and we were greeted by an empty restaurant but boy we were glad we stayed! A couple of cocktails were ordered from their “Bar Cuba” whilst we scanned the menu which gave us time to admire the work that’s gone into creating a really good looking restaurant in the heart of Peterborough.
The Latinis menu is updated regularly but sadly the South American dishes (from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Cuba, Venezuela, Peru and Mexico.. phew!) that I’d seen on a previous menu was not included leaving only the more familiar fajita-style choices. That said, the food that we did order (lamb steak and chicken/prawn skewers) was fantastic - great flavour and plenty of it!
Overall, the drinks were good. We took advantage of the “before 8pm” discount, but I’m not sure if I would want to drink many at the full price. Standard pump cola was terrible though - they need to get in genuine Coca-Cola / Pepsi ASAP!
Hopefully Latinis will re-introduce some of the missing dishes as specials as they made the restaurant more interesting compared to other South American / Tex-mex restaurant offerings in Peterborough.
On a busier night the atmosphere should be good and we’re already planning our return with a few friends.
