A few of the thoughts from my head in no particular order

Automotive Photography

March 3rd, 2008 Posted in automotive, work

As a web developer, I never claim to be at the forefront of cutting edge website design but I know what I like and what (I think) works.

When one of my projects needed some nifty automotive photography, I knew it had to be something a bit special. The first thing I did was head over to iStockphoto and stock.xchng to see if anything met the bill, which as per usual didn’t because I wasn’t looking for American cars or garish hatchbacks with spoilers on spoilers.

So with all my freeloading sources exhausted, I got in touch with an automotive photographer I’ve used in the past up in Glasgow and gave him the brief.

Ross who goes by the name of Quantum Capture (he wears a white lab coat for a day job) started taking photos as a hobby and quickly it spiralled into a serious passion. Since then, Ross has been published in several photography and automotive magazines and now provides services to private and corporate clients.

Unfortunately, photographing cars is ideally an outdoors past time and being in Glasgow, the weather is rarely on your side. After a few weeks waiting for the ideal weather and for the car to be available, Ross went out armed with some fancy Canon and obscene lens and took some cracking shots. If you’re wondering why I’m telling you all this, well a bit of back story never hurt anyone. Anyway, my point is for the price Ross charged for his photography services, I got the exact photos I needed and they were only a few quid more than the combined time and effort I would have put in searching and buying second rate stock images.

It really is a case of buy cheap buy twice as the website design really benefited from the images. Plus I’ve got the added bonus of knowing no-one else will be using the same image.  In case you’re interested, Ross took the photo of the mountain at the top of this blog!

So for automotive photography in Glasgow or anywhere Nationwide, give Quantum Capture a try.

    PMSL spoilers on spoilers.

How much did ross charge you for the shots? did you get a special discount given you two have spent the night together in a travel lodge with cans of Tennants?

I can’t disclose the amount Luigi as the photos were for a client and no, Ross didn’t offer any special discount :(

FYI we had cocktails in TGI Friday, not Tennants.
