No Isle of Wight for me in 2008
December 11th, 2007 Posted in entertainment, me, travelAs far as I’m concerned, for me the Isle of Wight Festival for 2008 has been cancelled.
It’s a shame because the line up is one of the best for years: The Kaiser Chiefs, Sex Pistols and The Police have been announced as headlining Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. Other acts announced so far include Lily Allen, The Enemy, James, The Zutons, Kate Nash, Iggy & The Stooges and KT Tunstall.
If you’re a fan of music then without a doubt you’re going to have a fantastic time at the festival, so it’s a shame that the organisers have seen fit to well and truly fleece their customers with 2008 ticket sales.
I’d just bought my Isle of Wight Festival First membership through Ticketzone, which entitled me to priority ticket purchases for the IoW Festival thus beating the queues to get weekend camping tickets and ferry tickets.
Last year was a bit of a nightmare to say the least due to the campervan site tickets selling out in minutes but thankfully ferry operator Red Funnel came to the rescue and all was good.
This year I’ll be watching Sting at the festival on Channel 4
So back to this year and Isle of Wight Festival organisers Solo release the ticket prices. It was no surprise that camping tickets have increased by a few quid since last year but the big piss take however was the 100% increase in price for campervan tickets - now £250 compared to last years £125. To make matters worse, no-one could explain what facilities would be made available for the £250 privilege.
Struggling for any reason as to why I should be paying in excess of £800 for the two of us to eat drink and sleep at the festival, I decided to just cancel my Ticketzone order for Festival First tickets and instead booked two weeks in India. Get in.
This year I’ll be watching Sting at the festival on Channel 4 in the comfort of my own home.
