IOW 2008 Festival to be the best yet!
New line up announcements for the 2008 Isle of Wight Festival are flooding in fast. It’s now looking to be the best the IoW has seen in years and that’s saying something when we’ve seen The Prodigy, Foo Fighters, Coldplay and The Rolling Stones.
Ok, so I’m not going and I’ll have to get over that at some point but you have no excuse and should have your tickets booked and your cowboy hats packed!
The 2008 Isle of Wight line up
Set details haven’t been announced yet but we know that Friday, Saturday and Sunday will be headlined by The Kaiser Chiefs, The Sex Pistols and The Police respectively.
All this on just three days
Other acts are nothing short of phenomenal and will be the perfect soundtrack to sitting in a sun-drenched field on the Isle of Wight, just relaxing with friends and a beer.
Already we’ve been told that Lily Allen, The Enemy, James, Kate Nash, Iggy & The Stooges, KT Tunstall and the Zutons. Most organisers would have been happy with that but Solo have really pulled out all the stops and booked Ian Brown, N.E.R.D, The Kooks, The Hoosiers and Scouting for Girls. All this on just three days!!
Lily Allen, Kate Nash and KT Tunstall will be definite crowd pleasers just like ex-Spice Girl Mel C and ex-sober Amy Winehouse at the 2007 festival earlier this year.
2006 saw The Kooks last playing the festival and they obviously had a good time as they’re back two years later! Lets hope they can secure the same late afternoon slot as the sun starts to go down for an epic performance.
Tickets
There are always going to be tickets about on eBay and often the official sellers like Tickezone, Red Funnel and Wightlink will have some released in a few months time.
For those camping over, it really is worth every penny – get there on Thursday and you’ve got four nights that can be as crazy or as chilled out as you want. The Strongbow Ciderhouse and Bacardi B-Live tent put on fantastic acts themselves, plus keep you fuelled on their own brands of alcohol.
Slightly gutted that I’m not going now.
