Clarkson for Minister for Transport
December 4th, 2007 Posted in automotive, entertainmentSo who says the 10 Downing Street website never pay any attention to the ePetitions?
The recent petition asking for BBC Top Gear’s Jeremy Clarkson to be appointed the Minister for Transport has finally received an official response:
The Government recognises Mr Clarkson’s expertise on certain aspects of the transport sector. His views are, of course, welcome and help to inform the wider debate on transport.
The Government has long recognised that it needs to listen to the views of those that use the transport system and this was reiterated in our recent document “Towards a Sustainable Transport System” (available at www.dft.gsi.gov.uk). Over the coming months we will consult a wide range of transport passengers and users, including motorists, affected communities, businesses, and those concerned with social justice and the future of the planet. Our aim is to move towards a sustainable transport system that works for everyone, that supports our economy, and plays its part in combating climate change.
Nice to see the spin on turning the comment into some nonsense about climate change!

Ha ha could you imagine Clarkson as the Minister for Transport?
Pretty weak response from the governement like, turning into a climate change discussion.

What harm could he really do if he was in charge of the UK’s transport strategy…?!

A close escape. He may be entertaining, but he’s an idiot of the highest order. It’s like people supporting Boris for mayor - these guys are fine on ‘Have i got news for you’ but putting them into responsible positions is laughable.

Kinty, surely that’s the point though? Get someone that only sees things in black and white to shake the system up a bit.
Can he really be any worse than the last few whose roles within the cabinet seem to change with the wind.
