The Police to headline 2008 Isle of Wight Festival

Just announced on the Official Isle of Wight Festival website is news that The Police will be headlining on the Sunday night!

IoW Festival Promoter John Giddings confirmed The Police will bring 2008’s festival to a close on the Sunday night. As their only UK festival outing in 2008, The Police’s performance will surely be one of the highlights of the summer.

Rumours were flying around last year that Sting or The Police would be playing however the festival date clashed with another concert Sting was performing at. Instead, last year’s headliners The Rolling Stones wowed an estimated 50,000 festival goers with their performance and raised the bar for this years acts.

Priority tickets are available through Festival First and regular ticket sales open up in December.

Now in its seventh year since its reincarnation in 2002, the festival brings together 50,000 free spirited, music loving, friends, families and Festival goers in front of one almighty stage, in a simply stunning setting. It is undoubtedly one of the most distinctive and well-loved festivals on the calendar and the two UK Festival Awards for Best Major UK Festival and Outstanding Contribution to Festivals (awarded to John Giddings) are proof of just that.
