Pizza Express Peterborough

Coals to Newcastle springs to mind when hearing that another pizza restaurant is due to open in the city but this time the company moving into the old Burger King building at 8a Cathedral Square is none other than Pizza Express.

Founded in the sixties by The King’s School old boy Peter Boizot, Pizza Express has evaded Peterborough until now (although I seem to recall seeing some kind of pizza restaurant on the opposite side of Cathedral Square years ago..)

With a menu familiar to thousands across the country, their classic and new Romana pizzas will find themselves at home opposite the Guildhall.

Peterborough has always done well for pizza – the chain restaurants and takeaways love the place with Pizza Hut, Domino’s and Prezzo as firm favourites. Independents don’t fair too badly either though with Papa Luigi, Limon cafe, Topo Gigio and the Pizza House.

So as you can see, there’s not exactly a niche market but somehow I don’t think Pizza Express is going to worry too much.

Pizza express could be one too many though surely?

You’ve forgotten the likes of Ask, Frankie and Benny (of which there’s two!), Fratelli’s, Avellino’s, Calisi, Gaston…

and with all the kebab/chicken/pizza takeaways lining Lincoln road there’s got to be a couple of hundred places to buy a pizza from.

Pizza express provides a far better class dining experience than any of the other pizza places in Peterborough. check it out and you will see.
