Peterborough’s Pussy Galores at risk

November 11th, 2007 Posted in peterborough

It doesn’t sound good for Peterborough’s latest venture by the Mellilo’s due to a request from Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service to review the bar’s licence.

The bar was the first in Peterborough to offer something a bit more lively than the usual chain pubs in the town centre - much to criticism from local prudes who failed to understand what the business would entail.

Now the council’s licensing authority want to revoke the license for three months even though the issues raised by the survey have been resolved.

Opened only a few weeks ago, Pussy Galores can be found along North Street next to Bogarts and Gem Bar, in place of the restaurant known as “The Restaurant”, which itself was formerly Mellilo’s.

With punters tired of the over subscribed College Arms, Yates and Edwards bars, a bit of harmless fun may be just what Peterborough needs so if Mellilo’s can sort the management issues to satisfy Peterborough Council, we’ll be onto a winner!

The successful “Coyote Ugly” formula employed at Pussy Galores is already in full swing in many other cities and towns across the UK and beyond and could be just the thing to revive dwindling numbers of night time visitors to the centre.
