Edoya Noodle Bar Peterborough
November 14th, 2007 Posted in curry monster, peterboroughWe fancied a quick bite to eat before going to see Beverley Knight (and the fantastic Cherry BlackStone) at the Broadway Theatre last night so took a wander down Wentworth Street to the Edoya Noodle Bar.
At the risk of sounding like a reviewing food critic, it was so nice in there I couldn’t help but post a comment.
fast food
Not that we were in any rush, but Edoya really are experts at fast-but-fantastic food. The menu really lends itself well to all occasions so whether you’re celebrating a birthday or just grabbing a bite in your lunch break, you never feel rushed or sitting around waiting for your food.
raw fish
Any fish is rarely high on my menu choice so I’ve never had the sushi but I’m told that the sashimi is worth trying, and the dishes look quite pretty if rolls of fish and rice are your thing.
Instead, I went for the familiar option and browsed the ramen, rice and noodle menus for something firey!
One of Peterborough’s best kept secrets…
I’m much more a fan of Japanese/Thai/Vietnamese cuisine than Chinese so Edoya opening a year or so ago ticked all the right boxes for me. In a city saturated by pizza, it’s great when new restaurants offer something different. One of Peterborough’s best kept secrets in restaurant terms, we’ve been a few times before and it’s been consistently good - quick service, freshly cooked food and a great atmosphere.
Edoya’s interior is typical noodle bar basic chic with it’s white walls, kitchen to one side and the bench tables arranged in long rows which gives it a really relaxed feel.
Going for a Vietnamese theme, I ordered the Ga Nuong Xa for a side dish - three gorgeous marinated chicken skewers which came kicking with a fresh chilli dip, followed by the Com thit Nuong (or a “51″ on the menu) of sliced pork on rice.
The flavours of these two dishes were fantastic and I wouldn’t hesitate in having them again.
The better half went for Teriyaki salmon and Tori kare (chicken on noodles) which weren’t really my thing (too fishy, too creamy, not enough chilli!) and she enjoyed them both but did said she would have rather gone for the Niku Kare Gohan we’d had on a previous visit.
As usual, Edoya didn’t disappoint on this occasion and we left full and content. Don’t take my word for it, try it for yourself!
