Tourism in the United Kingdom
October 2nd, 2007 Posted in me, travel, webI’ve got some holiday to take before the end of the year so I’ve been racking my brain for something interesting to do. Do I stay at home or do I go away?
As someone who’s lived in the United Kindom all their life, it’s easy to take for granted destinations that are right on the doorstep. With cities like Manchester, Birmingham and of course, London all vying for my trade choosing one to spend my valuable vacation time isn’t going to be easy.
London is the obvious choice, it’s the big smoke and where everything happens. Famous tourist attractions include Buckingham Palace, the Tower of London, London Bridge and the Houses of Parliament, not forgetting the newer sights like the London Eye.
With the destination sorted, it’s down to the arduous task of booking accomodation. There are literally millions (42 million according to Google!) of search results for hotels in London so take time to find one in the best area to where all your interests lie.
The not-so-obvious choices of Manchester and Birmingham offer just as many cultural delights as the capital with a fantastic array of museums, art galleries and retail outlets.
If you’re a sports fan then why not stop by Old Trafford to catch a Cricket or Football match? If a shopping spree is more your thing then Birmingham’s Bull Ring or Manchester’s Arndale centre offers everything and more. There are also a wide range of hotels in Birmingham and hotels in Manchester with something to suit all budgets.
