Internet Detectives foil car seller
August 8th, 2007 Posted in automotiveCrack detectives from the Vauxhall VX220 owners forum identified a rare VXR 220 as a potentially dangerous crash-damaged car being sold without any history of said damage.
When photos of the “mint” car were presented, questions were raised due to missing badges and bodywork sections.
The seller, ImranVXR1 initially maintained that the car was not crash-repaired and that photos showing a similar VX220 in a bodyshop with damage to the bodywork was just a coincidence.
The photos Imran posted:
The same VXR220, #16 with crash damage (note - the numberplate was removed from the vehicle prior to Imran’s sale):
As the thread progresses, it arises that other forum users sharing the same IP address as ImranVXR1 have posted in the Wanted forum, asking if anyone had certain body panels for sale. When questioned, Imran explained that the computer he uses was at his brother’s car repair business.
Other forum users quickly pointed out that he must have been there late considering some of the posts where made in the early hours of the morning.
Then we have the typical slagging matches with Imran protesting his innocence, which is typical of threads like this.
The thread is really worth a read with it currently at 25 pages
